A group of teachers and students from Italy and Romania, European partners of our school IES Eduardo Janeiro, are visiting Fuengirola as part of the 2017-18 mobilities in our Erasmus Plus project working with ICT. In their stay they will have a learning and teaching activity programme on the environment visiting the different areas in Fuengirola and nearby.
The students are hosted by Spanish families,a total number of 28,who have given their guests a warm welcome as if they were part of the family.
The day started in the gym with ice breaker activities with our language assistant Madison perkosky and Ana Quijano, the English teacher. Then they went to see a maths lesson which combined IT resources with a flipped lesson to learn and play with geometry. They followed with the students digital oral presentations about the area where they introduced the locality, the province, the economy in the area and the environmental problems which our economies face.
The school held in the same day the programme " Cuidemos la Costa "( Let's look after our Coastline),an extension of the Junta de Andalucia ALDEA programme which included workshops in Spanish for 4th ESO students and an exhibition in the hall about the flora and fauna in our Coasts. The students who attended the talks in Spanish became the guides to the exhibition explaining it to the Erasmus + European students and teachers . This preparatory activity was followed by a trip to the coast where they could see and study the beach environment on a hands- on lesson along La Cala beach. They had also walked to discover and study the flora in the countryside and had a view of Fuengirola from La Cantera park. The students were asked to take pictures so that they could later identify the names of the plants using the app from the website : identify.plantnet-project.org.
