“If you really want to do something, you will find a way.  If you don’t, you will find an excuse”

¡Gracias Myriam !

SWORN TRANSLATION

On February 13th we had a talk by Miryam Fernández, a businesswoman and a sworn translator, who explained what her job is about and shared her experiences with us.
She told us many interesting things about the different types of translation, the kind she is specialised in and the different ways that translation and interpretation are present in our lives, even though we don´t always realise about it.
Regarding her personal experience she said that she has had both, funny and frightening moments during her career, but she loves her job and knows that bad moments are part of life too.
We have had a perfect hour, laughing and learning new things.

Sara Clare Menassa (3º B)

….. She also told us stories about her experiences in her  work , like interferences in the headphones with a taxi company ,or a very scary story about a mafia criminal that gave her a death threat if she said what she had heard.
I really enjoyed that talk and now I am thinking seriously about being a professional translator . I remember something she said and I liked the most :
“If you want to do it, you will find a way, if you don’t want to do it, you will find an excuse “

TALK ON GOOD EATING HABITS by Caleb Stapleton

On Friday (the 16th) a lady came to talk about healthy eating.  She told us about how eating correctly can affect your physical appearance.  She explained that people who may look or feel different make them shy to others because they feel ugly or out of place.  She said that the models and spokepeople you see on television and in magazines aren't so beautiful as you think.  Many people spend hours on their hair and make-up to make them so perfect.

People also use computer programs like PhotoShop to make them look even better.  She proved that beauty is only skin-deep and it was an eye-opening experience for the children of our school.  By Caleb Stapleton
