RHODE ISLAND: What do you know about this American state?

By Rosana Talavera

On the 9th of March, Caroline Alice Cuddy from Rhode Island (U.S.A.) came to speak to us about the state where she comes from.
Rhode Island is situated between New York and Boston.  In size, it's the smallest of the fifty states.  It's a "flat" state since there are no mountains or hills.  The population is about 1.053.209 inhabitants.  It is often nicknamed "The Ocean State".
In winter, it's very cold and few people around.  In summer, it's very hot and a lot of visitors arrive.
There are a lot of water activities and seafood.  Some of the most important activities are sailing, fishing and kayaking.

The most important places are Providence, Newport, Warwick and block Island.  Many people think Block Island is very beautiful.

Some of the traditions are: the Naraganset Indians celebration; the Waterfire; clamcakes and chowder, which is one of the traditional dishes, as are the drinks "Del'slemonade" and "Coffee milk"
